Sunset over Ama Dablam in Dingboche, Nepal

Today’s travel photo is of a lodge beneath Ama Dablam at sunset in Dingboche, Nepal. I reached Dingboche within the last few days of my recent trek in the Everest region of Nepal, but for those of you trekking the normal Everest Base Camp trek, you might stay here on your fifth day. Dingboche is one of the last actual villages you will come across before trekking up to Everest Base Camp, and it is a collection of lodges, houses and potato fields, all sitting beneath the beautiful ice capped peak of Ama Dablam. It is a good spot to stop for an acclimatization day as from here you will head up to some real serious altitudes. This will also allow you plenty of time to look around the village and explore the surrounding trails. When I was there, I was treated to this beautiful sunset, where the sunlight reflected off of the clouds hanging above the mountains.
