Today’s travel photo is of the entrance courtyard inside Hampton Court Palace in England. Hampton Court was built in the 16th century for King Henry VIII and much of the architecture of the original palace remains unchanged. The following century, King William III and Queen Mary expanded the palace to try and rival Versailles. Today, the palace is no longer a residence of the Royal Family and remains as a museum and heritage site. The palace and surrounding grounds are enormous and you could easily spend an entire day here exploring this amazing site.
I would like to see this palace – I am obessed with Henry ever since I watched the series of him and his many wives!
Hi Natalie. I didn’t know a lot about Henry VIII until I visited England, but I do now. He is everywhere and seems to be very popular with the English.
