I saw quite a few hyenas while on safari in Tanzania, however it wasn’t until I got to Ngorongoro Crater that I could get close enough to get a decent photo of one. There were several hyenas in this particular spot, mostly just lazing around in the grass near a herd of wildebeest. They were probably hoping that some lions might come along and make a kill so that they could feed on the carcass that they leave behind.
Funny, I had the same experience! In Ngorongoro a pack of hyenas stole fresh kill from lions and those that didn’t get a piece of the prize walked by our jeep in search of more food.

Hi Thomas. That must have been quiet a sight seeing the hyenas take the kill from the lions. The ones I saw were kind of just lazing around and waiting for something to happen. Got to be in the right place at the right time I guess 😉
