Today’s travel photo is of the historic Chinese heritage buildings that line Jonker Street in Malacca, Malaysia. Jonker Street is the centre of Chinatown in Malacca’s historic old town. Due to it’s UNESCO World Heritage listing, this stunning area is full of beautifully preserved historic buildings that can’t be torn down. The little houses and shop fronts that line Jonker street and the surrounding streets in the area makes the town just lovely to wander around. At night, lanterns and umbrellas light up the street, and there are lots of nice restaurants and eateries to try out, including dishes that are unique to Malacca. Jonker Street really comes to life on the weekend when the whole street is closed off to vehicles and transforms into a bustling night market. It is a popular place for Kuala Lumpur locals to come for a weekend getaway, and also for tourists visiting the area.
