Today’s travel photo is of an old rickety house in the historic gold mining town of Sofala, Australia. Located north of Bathurst in New South Wales, Sofala was once a bustling gold mining settlement in the 1800’s. Like most mining towns, it dwindled once the gold ran out, but somehow many of it’s old buildings are still standing. Today, the town is popular with tourists looking for a bit of history. I took this photo while wandering around the old streets of Sofala on a sunny morning. It is definitely worth stopping in for a few hours if you’re in the area.
