Today’s travel photo is of some old shopfronts in Savannakhet, Laos. We only really stopped in Savannakhet to break up the long journey from Si Phan Don to Vientiane, but I am really glad that we did. This sleepy little city on the Mekong River is full of beautiful old buildings, and it is a great place to rent a bicycle and cycle along the quiet streets. I really loved these old shopfronts shown in this photo as they have so much character. I hope that Savannakhet stays like this.
Those tables and chairs look familiar, they are all over laos 🙂
Jennifer recently posted..A cautionary tale: why you shouldn’t eat coconuts in Panama
Yeah they are aren’t they? Seems to be the popular outdoor setting in Laos 😉
I can sense that the people there are still practicing how to live a simple life away from big buildings and noisy city.
Hi Kristy. Yes, this is very authentic, and its the kind of thing I try to seek out when I travel.
i visited and stayed for months, my favourite place in Laos………..

Hi Thomas. It’s good to hear from someone else who visited Savannakhet. It doesn’t get a lot of attention from travellers…but maybe that’s what is so good about it? 😉

Hey Thomas. That sounds like a brilliant idea. Will have a look for your bar next time I visit!
