Cat Ba Island is geographically the largest island in Halong Bay,Vietnam, and it was here that we chose to base ourselves to explore this beautiful area. Most of Cat Ba Island is protected as Cat Ba National Park, and it is home to the world’s rarest primate – the Golden Headed Langur (or Cat Ba Langur). Apparently there are only about 60-70 of them left, so there was basically no chance of me seeing one. Still, we went for a hike in the National Park up a steep path to the top of the one of the tall limestone karst mountains. We were treated to this amazing view out across the island.
