A couple of days ago I went hiking in Mount Barney National Park in South East Queensland, Australia. This rugged and remote area is a great place to get away from it all in the Aussie bush, and I decided to climb to the summit of the East Peak of the mountain by hiking in and camping along the way. I will write more about this difficult trek in another post, but for now I hope you enjoy this panorama of the view from the summit of Mount Barney.
This is looking South West towards the New South Wales border. I climbed up from the valley below into the saddle between the two peaks (you can see the top of the West peak of the mountain on the right), where I camped for the night before climbing to the summit in the morning.
It is is photos like these that make me wonder why on earth people want to live in crowded and bustling cities
I agree Natalie. The country is where you can find peace, quiet and tranquility. All important things 🙂
Wow, stunning view!
It is! Cheers Megan
Wow! I don’t know how you tore yourself away from this view to be able to post the picture. It’s amazing!
It certainly wasn’t easy, Brock. I could have stayed up there for ages. The only reason I had to pull me away was the 6 hour trek back to my car! 🙂
I didn’t even know this existed and I live in Brisbane!
I doubt that you are the only one, Jade. Lot’s of people actually don’t know about Mount Barney.
Wow. This panoramic view makes you wanna jump off and roll down and coming out unscathed. Wonder why no one took interest to develop that area but still maintain the serenity…
Hey Graeme. This area is very remote, rugged and also protected in a National Park, so it will never be developed and will always be there for us all to enjoy 🙂 Cheers
