Today’s travel photo is of the Porta de Santiago at A Famosa Fort in Malacca, Malaysia. A Famosa is a 16th century Portuguese Fort in the historic town of Malacca (Melaka), built shortly after the Portuguese conquered Malacca in 1511. In the following century, when the Dutch took over the port, they continued to use and maintain the fort, however when the British took control of Malacca in the late 18th century, they ordered the fort to be demolished. All that remains of the fort today is the main gate to the former fort, called Porta de Santiago. This architectural relic stands as a one of many reminders of Malacca’s interesting history.
Wow what a beautiful picture of Porta de Santiago, thanks for sharing i like this picture.
It’s great to read something fresh. You take remarkable pictures. Sadly, I have never get the opportunity to tour this lovely place, but willing to. Hope my time will come soon.
This historical building is the main tourist attraction in Melaka.
Nice photo anyway and there are lot more to be explored in this area.
